The Journey Begins

My parents were here for about a month and a half and time went by so fast and yesterday they got on a plane and headed home. As we drove to Chicago to drop them off I was thinking of how hard it would be to have to say goodbye but at the same time with my parents leaving it meant that my new journey was about to begin. (If you do think of my parents though please pray that their luggage comes in. They lost their connecting flight in Miami and then once they were at the Honduran airport they found out that their luggage was lost.) So here I am my first day on my own and I have started to work on some stuff for Dominican Republic and its becoming more and more exciting!
Today the school sent me pictures of what my house looks like which was a great way to start off my day!! Thought I should share them with you!! In my mind I was not expect to have such a nice house but I am being blessed with a really nice home.

So yeah, this is my new home for the next few years. I am really excited to be able to move down there and be able to decorate the house and everything!! Today finally ordered a Vonage phone adapter and started to buy a couple of things for my trip. Things are finally coming together and support is still slowly coming in but trusting God that he will provide the rest!! Hope you all have an awesome weekend!!

God is Faithful!!

I got a phone call from Dominican Republic two nights ago and was told that they had good news and bad news so thought I would share these with you guys. The bad news is that there are not enough students enrolled for the fall to have two full Pre-Kinder 4 classes and so they can't pay me full-time. The good news is that they need a 4th Grade teacher and was now offered this position.

At first this was a little bit of a shock because as soon as I heard the bad news my mind was going all over the place because I thought that I was going to need to start a plan B. As I talked with the Director of the school she made sure that she gave me the pros and cons for this situation which was huge to see her do this for me. She explained to me of how she thought that I could do this job and that I would be fine. Once we finished our conversation I went ahead and accepted this opportunity.

God has been faithful and even though I doubted Him when I got that phone call He still continued with His plan and ignored mine. I had my plans of being a Preschool teacher and I thought that this was the perfect spot for me but God is showing me that the purpose of this trip is not for me to be glorified or to teach where I want but this is about where He wants me to teach so that he will be glorified. Please pray that I will continue to listen to Him even though it seems hard at times.
Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Preparing to move to Dominican Republic!

So in approximately 28 days I will be packing up my bags and moving to Dominican Republic to become a teacher at Jarabacoa Christian School. Time has gone by so quickly and I am amazed of how God has been providing for this trip already. I have a couple monthly supporters and have several one time donations that have already been made. God has been faithful with the support and with providing supplies and different things that I will need in Dominican Republic.
Please continue to pray as my emotions are really going up and down. I am getting really excited to move but at the same time it has become more and more real that I will be on my own and that I can no longer just walk across campus and get food and I can no longer depend on walking from one dorm to another to talk to a close friend. Its crazy that two years ago I felt like I would never get out of Bethel and now here I am packing up my bags and getting ready to leave. So crazy how time flies.
I will hopefully be able to update all of you as things start wrapping up here in Indiana and as things start happening in Dominican Republic!! Thank you so much for all the prayers and support that you guys have given and shown these past few months!!!
